Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist July 29th, 2009

Last week – on the 23rd of July – I wrote a MCTS exam to obtain 'MOSS 2007 Application Development Certification'. Today I received confirmation via email from Microsoft of my MCTS status.

While I'm quietly eying the Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD) certification, it's 6 exams, and hefty ones at that… my hotshot-Waterloo's-finest coworker dove in and wrote the first exam, but passed narrowly, so I think I'll wait until I have a little more experience under my belt before pursuing it.

I was however, interested and surprised to discover that w3schools web site offers certification, though they're a little sketch since you write them online and it's a kind of honor system, but you can have a supervisor's name on your certificate for credibility. I can't help but wonder if it would be interesting for a University to offer supervised sessions during which students could write these exams would be a good idea…
